Many times we reuse or re-purpose content from Microsoft Word, Publisher or PowerPoint for use on a Website or Web page.
Microsoft documents contain hidden code in order to render text styles and formatting on the printed page. Often times, this code is unnecessarily complex, and can adversely effect the formatting on your Website.
When copying and pasting content from a MS Office document, follow these best practices:
- Copy text only (not photos or graphics)
- Paste into Notepad first, then copy from Notepad into your Web page (all formatting is stripped)
- Paste as "plain text" if this is an option in your content editor
